Time for another classic bike test from my personal magazine collection. This one covers Cannondale’s controversial 2001 MX400 racer. In many ways, the Cannondale was ahead of its time, with its electric start, cassette transmission, and reversed motor design. The design was certainly bold, but the execution was fraught with problems. This test covers the first version of the MX400, before Cannondale, and later ATK worked out many of the bike’s assorted gremlins.
